The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is a semi-autonomous Ministry of Works agency established on 1 July 2000 that is responsible for the day-to-day management of the main and regional road network in Tanzania. Its primary functions include managing maintenance and development work, network operations and axle load control, implementing road safety and environmental measures, and advising on strategic framework, policies and plans for the road sector.

TANROADS Regional Director - Ruvuma, on behalf of the CEO is seeking suitable qualified Tanzanian candidates for the Office of the Regional Director and Weighing Stations. Now, TANROADS -Ruvuma Regional Director is inviting interested candidates to apply for the following positions;

Position Title: WEIGHBRIDGE Operator (6 positions)

Academic/Professional Qualifications:-

National Form IV/VI Certificate:

Possess a full technical certificate or an ordinary diploma in civil engineering; Mechanical, Automotive or Electrical Engineering (FTC) from any recognized educational institution;

Age limit: no more than 35 years old;

Must be computer literate (at least microcomputer applications);

Must be fluent in both written and spoken Swahili and English:

Must be a Tanzanian citizen;

Duties and Responsibilities:

Carry out activities as described in the EAC Vehicle Load Control Act 2016 and its Regulations 2017 which includes the following; Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) > 3500 kg on our public roads.

Enforce axle load control using scale balance devices;

- Immediately impose roadside damage charges for overloaded vehicles;

Measure the physical dimensions of the vehicle or any cargo carried on the vehicle to advise the carrier to provide relevant advice.

Record all necessary details related to the vehicle being weighed;

Observe good customer care, dignity and integrity;

Report all matters to the responsible shift;

Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the responsible shift supervisor/supervisor;

Pay: TRDS 4.1;

Terms and Conditions of Service:

The term of the contract is for two years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level or universities/colleges must be endorsed by the respective national bodies (NECTA, NACTE, or TCU).
