POSITION: Field Distribution Officers (Multiple)

LOCATION: Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Dodoma, Shinyanga, Kigoma, Mara, Singida

Ubongo is a nonprofit social enterprise that creates and distributes engaging, translated educational content that helps children learn and use their learning to change their lives. Ubongo reaches more than 24.6 million families with Ubongo Kids and Akili and Me in Africa through accessible technologies such as television, radio, and mobile phones. One of Ubongo's goals is to reach an additional 2.5 million children by 2022 who cannot be reached through streaming.

We are looking for several Field Distribution Officers as full-time consultants to increase our efforts to reach children and families with our content in underserved communities (places we don't reach through TV and radio) within Tanzania.

This role is ideal for someone with an "intellectual" attitude. Working in the field requires that you be able to think carefully. The role will involve traveling through different communities in the Tanzanian region working to distribute Ubongo kits through USB sticks, CDs, printed materials, and other technologies used by the local community. The ideal candidate will be someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can communicate with different groups of people, such as parents, local business people, religious leaders, community radio station owners, and children. Knowing all this also means that you will be our ambassador!

Responsibilities:

Distribute content to communities outside the network

main activities:

1. Obtain the necessary government permissions to distribute content
2. Visit many hubs to share Ubongo content via USB, CD, printables, etc.
3. A constant search for new ways to reach the most disadvantaged children
4. Collect and share lessons from the field about what works and what doesn't by sharing content with offline communities
5. Document lessons daily and share notes monthly
6. Keep a complete record of the areas visited, including the contacts and the medium used to distribute the content to obtain information on how the content is used.
7. Follow up in person or by phone with everyone you share the contact with
8. Reaching children in disadvantaged communities in Tanzania through Ubongo content

Main activities:

• Visit various locations on Earth to distribute the Ubongo content area
• Create a distribution plan by dividing geographic and demographic regions to systematically target it
• Define places (app install kiosks/local cinemas/any other relevant locations) and "supply chains" where content can be shared
• Travel around your region of Tanzania to learn about distribution channels and build networks and partnerships to distribute content to children.

Requirements:

• To be a match, you must be:
• Live in one of the areas listed above (preferred)
• Speaks English and Swahili
• Good communication skills with recognition of different cultural contexts.
• Willing to do more with less
• ability to travel
• Able to maintain clear and concise reports.
• Comprehensive Technical Expert – Capable of doing things like transferring apps, converting video and audio files to various formats, and troubleshooting.
• Own a smartphone
