Security Officer (one job)

Office: Directorate of Human Resources and Administrative Affairs

The job reports to Administrative Director

Work Station: Arusha, Tanzania


The main purpose of the work:

Coordinate, manage, and implement in coordination with EAC management security issues within the community by ensuring that EAC visitors, delegates, assets and property are safe.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordination and management of security tasks within the East African Community.
  • Put preventative measures in place and quickly address any security breaches that may occur by contacting the police and security systems of the host country.
  • Provides advice to EAC management on security issues within EAC facilities.
  • Assign/assign security duties
  • Protect the assets of the organization and ensure that preventive measures are taken to avoid security breaches.
  • Provide escort and security protection for executives, VIPs and
  • Investigate criminal cases, gather intelligence, and inform relevant people
  • Coordinated investigation of security-related misconduct by staff in contravention of EAC rules and regulations, and reported to management for action.
  • Coordination of incident investigations involving the community
  • Provide emergency response services inside and outside the building to EAC staff at all times.
  • Facilitate security clearance procedures related to accreditation of attending delegates
  • Perform any other function as assigned by the Department from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience:

You must have a BA (Hons) degree from a recognized university/institution, as well as officer-level training in the Police, Military, Prisons, or Immigration Service with the rank of Police Inspector or equivalent in other security services.

At least 5 years of experience in security management and investigations and/or a leadership position in a national, regional, or international public organization.

Skills and competencies:

Must have good research, analysis, and management skills, communication skills, public relations, observation, situation assessment, and conflict resolution skills. Certificate in security electronics eg CCTV, audio, burglary, and fire access control equipment would be an added advantage

Eligibility to apply:

After the decision of the forty-first meeting of the Council of Ministers, only candidates from the Republic of South Sudan have the right to apply for the position mentioned above.

Terms and Conditions of Service:

The above position is valid for a five (5) year contract, renewable once.

Educational Qualifications:

All candidates must have qualifications recognized by the appropriate national accreditation body in the Republic of South Sudan. This requirement applies to qualifications obtained nationally and internationally.

All occupations that require registration with designated professional bodies are expected to do so in accordance with the requirements of the Republic of South Sudan.

Related work experience:

Training and apprenticeships will not be considered relevant work experience.
