The University of Essex is a public research university in Essex, England. Founded in 1963, it admitted students in 1964 and was granted university status by royal charter in 1965. The university is a glass-paneled university.
The university's crest is made from the ancient arms associated with the Kingdom of Essex, and the motto, "The hardest thought, the most caring heart", is taken from the Anglo-Saxon poem The Battle of Maldon. The University of Essex consists of three campuses with its main campus within Wivenhoe Park (over 200 acres) and a campus in Southend-on-Sea and Loughton.

The University of Essex African Scholarships covers £4,500, to be paid as a discount on tuition fees.
The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit and all academic applications will be automatically considered.
Eligibility for the University of Essex African Scholarships
To be eligible for the University of Essex African Scholarships, each candidate must have completed relevant school or university studies in an African country.
The University of Essex African Scholarships are limited to fee-paying foreign students and are entirely self-funded.
You must be habitually resident in an African country to be eligible for the scholarship.
Each candidate must have obtained a university degree of the specified degree or higher to be eligible for the University of Essex African Scholarships. Note that a higher master's degree cannot be earned to make up for a lower bachelor's degree.
Please note that eligible courses are those full-time taught Master's courses leading to Master's, Master's, MBA, Master's, and Master's degrees from October 2022 and January 2023.
Only candidates who have firmly accepted an offer of a place by September 16, 2022, for October 2022 start or January 06, 2023, for January 2023 start and meet the academic entry requirements will be considered for the University of Essex African Scholarships.
All successful candidates must be available for promotional activities.
